Howling winds and flashes of lightning told Frank the storm wasn’t about to let up. That meant his chances of escape were declining by the minute. Until he found Rick, though, that was fine by him. In the back of his mind, he was already even starting to hear a voice that said he would end up having to sacrifice himself to take out the man.

If it came down to it, he would do so. But why then would he have seen that strange room, and how did it all add up? Knowing that was out there, would it be smarter for him to travel at the last minute. Even if it created multiple worlds and other possibilities, he was starting to think the existence of that strange place meant it would all be okay.

Starting to think, but not fully there. He would give this his best shot first, and hope to not have to go there. Everyone stood gathered for their emperor.

Other Keisha took her throne. “It would seem we are closing in on the rebels below.” Her eyes moved to Frank, and he thought this would be his end. That she would have her followers grab him, throw him down before her, and then chop off his head. Instead, she continued. “We are not afraid of a storm, but we are strategic. When the moment is right we will strike, and we will tear them down this day.”

A couple of somber nods came, eyes all narrowed. These men and women were hardened killers, ready to get down into the action.

“Let us celebrate, because Franklin has returned successful!” Other Keisha turned to him with a smile. She knew this wasn’t exactly truth, but was working to raise morale, get her troops ready. “He will join us on the raid below, as soon as the storm allows.”

Cheers rose up but were interrupted by a banging on the doors. A second later, the doors burst open and in walked a young sky pirate, striding along with all the glory of a god. His skin was a light bronze, almost caramel, his muscles toned. He wore an open chested pirate jacket of black with gold embroidery and buttons, loose-fitting pants and slick boots. On his belt was a curved scimitar. The wind flew to reveal double pistols strapped at his sides. Could this be the boy, Merin? He didn’t look as young as Frank had expected, but then again, could have been living in any number of times for years. Rain littered the floor as the wheels turned again to close the doors behind him and his crew.

Apparently, he was this missing captain—the leader of the Titan’s Teeth. With a name like that for a ship, Frank wondered.

“Good of you to join us,” Blackbeard growled.

“Had to see if the rumors were true,” the boy replied, his eyes moving to Frank without hesitation. “Ah, indeed they must be. To what do we owe the honor?”

“Explain yourself, Captain Khamun?” Other Keisha asked.

“Back from the dead, and not a scratch to show for it?” the captain said.
